The Harlem Renaissance

The Harlem Renaissance was a period of social, artistic and intellectual prosperity, centered in Harlem. It was called the New Negro Movement, after Locke's book, ​​​​​​​The New Negro. The movement eventually spread to have national influence; Harlem standing as the symbolic capital.
